December 7, 2005. Mr. Kamal Nath, Commerce & Industry Minister
met 25 member delegation from International Friendship Exchange
Council (FEC) , Japan. The Commerce & Industry Minister
mentioned about the close cooperation between India and Japan on
various fronts like WTO, ODA and FDI. He invited Japanese
investments in India. The delegation , which was led by Mr.
Hiromichi Fujita, Chairman, Toppan Printing Co. Ltd. , Japan,
reacted positively and the leader of the delegation mentioned
that Japan recognises India to be the future economic super
power. He mentioned that though at present Japanese investments
in India are less , now there is a reckoning in Japan about
India. Dr. Ajay Dua , Secretary, Industrial Policy & Promotion
outlined India's economic scene and the FDI Policy.The delegates
exchanged information on Special Economic Zone, taxation and
sectoral FDI policies. The leader of the delegation mentioned
that this is the fifth visit of the FEC delegation. In each
visit, they have been able to conclude serious business.
The delegation
consisted of members from organic and inorganic chemicals, IT,
Food Processing and service sector. The prominent companies in
the delegation include Ajinomoto, N.Y.K . Line, Japan Airlines,
